How to Apply for a Birth Certificate in Qatar?

You can apply online for the birth certificate of your newborn via the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) website. The step-by-step process is as follows:

1-Visit MOPH Online Portal

The first step to initiate a birth certificate application is to visit the online portal of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH):

2-Navigate to New Birth Certificate

You will see three different services tab on the next page. These are new birth certificates, update birth certificate registration, and request additional copies of birth certificates. Navigate to the ‘new birth certificate’ tab and click.

3-Select Type of Residence of the Applicant

On the next screen, you will have to select the type of residence of the applicant from the drop-down menu. There are three different residency options: Qatari citizen, resident (Non-Qatari), and visitors. You will have to enter your QID number if you are a Qatari citizen or resident and your passport number if you are on a visit visa.

4-Mobile Number Verification

After selecting your residence type, you will have to enter your mobile number and email ID and verify that email ID. Remember that your mobile number and email ID will be used for correspondence and payment options. The portal will now send an OTP (One-time password) to your mobile number for verification.

5-Enter OTP Number and Confirm

Enter the OTP received on your mobile number into the specified place on the screen and click the confirm button.

6-Find Birth Record

When your mobile number is verified, a new screen will appear, asking you to enter baby details to search for the record. You will enter details like HC number, mother ID number, and date of birth in case your baby is born in Hammad Hospital or Sidra Hospital. However, for a baby born in a private hospital, you need to enter the file no instead of the HC number.

7-Select Type of Request

On the next screen, you will have to select the type of request. There are three types of requests you can raise through this page. These are ‘new baby,’ ‘update baby request,’ and ‘request for additional copies’ of a certificate already issued.

8-Provide Further Details

Now comes the stage where you have to provide newborn details like name, gender, and blood group. Here, you will also enter the father and mother’s details including their names, nationalities, and resident IDs. Also, enter the informant’s details and delivery details, and you are done.

9-Document Uploading

Remember to upload supporting documents related to the information about the baby, its father, and its mother. Do not initiate the Qatar birth certificate process unless you have all the supporting documents with you.

10-Pay Fee for Additional Copies

If you want additional copies of the Qatar birth certificate, you will be sent an SMS alert with a payment link for payment of additional funds. The fee is payable only through the credit cards.
