Do you know that you can apply exemption from paying Emirates ID fines if you fail to renew it in time due to certain circumstances? The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has recently explained the three categories of individuals who are eligible for an exemption from Emirates ID fines. ICP has urged people to apply for an exemption from delay penalties if they fall under any of the categories.
Categories of People Exempted from Emirates ID Delay Penalties
Remember that you can apply for an exemption from delay fines if you belong to any of the below-mentioned categories:
- If you are among those who left the country and spent more than three months outside UAE and the expiry date of your Emirates ID card was after your exit from the country, you are eligible for an exemption from Emirates ID fines.
- The individuals deported from UAE due to a judicial ruling or an administrative decision or whose Passport is seized in pending cases are also eligible for an exemption from delay penalties if their Emirates ID card expires after their exit from the country. However, they have to give some documentary proof issued by the competent authorities about their deportation.
- If you are not issued an Emirates ID before obtaining the Emirates Nationality and Family book, you are also eligible for exemption from fines.
There are also certain other conditions under which an individual can apply for Emirates ID fines exemption.
- Persons bedridden or suffering from contagious diseases or disabilities (partial or complete) are also eligible for exemption, provided that they have medical certificates from an authorized hospital or doctor.
- Older people or people aged 70 years or more who are unable to visit service centers for Emirates ID renewal can also apply for an Emirates ID fines waiver.
- Citizens and residents living under the Social Security System are also eligible for exemption because their financial status qualifies them for this exemption.
